Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships
Overview
The Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship (Vanier CGS) program is designed to attract and retain world-class doctoral students and establish Canada as a global centre of excellence in research and higher learning. It is funded by the Canadian federal government (CIHR, NSERC, and SSHRC) and awarded based on academic excellence, research potential, and leadership skills.
Eligibility Requirements
- Academic Standing: First-class average (top 10%) in each of the last two years of full-time study.
- Program Level: Pursuing first doctoral degree (including joint MA/PhD or MD/PhD).
- Nomination: Must be nominated by a Canadian university with an official Vanier quota.
- Study Progress: Completed no more than 20 months of full-time doctoral study by May 1st of the award year.
How to Apply
- Check with your nominating Canadian university for their internal deadline (usually September/October).
- Create an account on the ResearchNet portal.
- Prepare your research proposal, personal leadership statement, transcripts, and referee letters.
- Submit your completed application via ResearchNet to your nominating university for institutional review.
