MEXT Scholarship (Embassy Recommendation)
Overview
The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) offers this fully funded scholarship to international students who wish to study at Japanese universities as undergraduate or research (master's/PhD) students. It is the most sought-after scholarship in Japan.
Eligibility Requirements
- Nationality: Must have the nationality of a country that has diplomatic relations with Japan.
- Age: Under 24 for Undergraduates; under 35 for Research students.
- Academic: Must meet strong academic standards and pass MEXT examinations.
How to Apply
- Applications are processed through the Japanese Embassy or Consulate in your home country.
- Submit required documents (application form, transcripts, recommendation letters) by the deadline.
- Pass the written exam and interview conducted by the Embassy.
- If selected, you then contact Japanese universities to obtain a letter of provisional acceptance.
