Overview

Now officially known as the International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship, this program is funded by the Center for Language Education and Cooperation (CLEC). It supports students, scholars, and language teachers worldwide to pursue Chinese language and culture studies, or degrees in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages (TCSOL) in China.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Citizenship: Non-Chinese citizens only.
  • Age: Generally between 16 and 35 (in-service teachers up to 45; undergrads under 25).
  • Interest: Strong interest in Chinese language education and related fields.
  • Language: Valid HSK and HSKK score reports are strictly required (score requirements vary by program).

How to Apply

  1. Get a recommendation from an authorized institution (local Confucius Institute, HSK test center, or Chinese Embassy).
  2. Register and apply on the official CIS website (cis.chinese.cn).
  3. Upload your HSK/HSKK scores, passport, transcripts, and recommendation letters.
